This is not the bird I didn't hit

BEACH!  We packed a lunch and chairs and umbrellas and hats and did it up like baby boomers.

Owling boomer.  Watch me trend on Twitter.

Aspiring busker, maybe.  An amateur busker is just a guy who shows up.

This thing worked its way down the beach all day like this: |_|˜˜|_|˜˜|_|˜˜|_| I pouted until Annie went to ask the guy what in tarnation was going on, and he told her that they were taking GPS readings and depth measurements to calculate how much sand needed to be dredged in. They will be pushing the beach back 75 feet. Their story made me feel better about the 3 foot diameter rusty pipeline laying on the beach that had been screaming HUMAN DOOKIE!! in my ear all afternoon. It would just be sand, with less than 100 ppm human dookie.

This is a facsimile of the bird that I did didn't hit with my car:

Tucker is doing great:

Funny. I'm just learning about planking. Is there a meditative piece to this? That GPS life station thingy is something else! What a site.

New to your blog, but what fun, I love the baby-boomer planking, :)

Okay, now I've heard about planking twice now. I first thought it was a joke. What the heck is the purpose?

Thanks for the explanation on the gps thing. I sure was wondering.

Tucker looks like he could be a troublemaker! He's getting cuter all the time and looks so darn sweet. I'm glad he found such a good home. Our motto is anybody that loves kitties must be okay!

Ok, now you've gone and made me Google already this morning. Somehow I feel just a little dumber in the process!

I'm sure I've been seen planking after a night of liquid refreshment, perhaps a photo exists and THAT's how it got started!?!

Michael, I think Planking Owl might not be as popular, just because it looks obscene.

There may be something contemplative about planking. I was contemplating needing to go rinse off. I have no idea how it began, but the notion of it starting as a bender sounds about right, and mostly now it's a viral joke. Nellie (Midlife Cruiser) introduced it to me, and I loved the shot of her father planking at Buckingham Palace. Or was it Parliment? Parliment Planking ...

Tucker was all sweety-sweet and cuddly until he knew he had us. Now he's Terror Kitty and wakes us at dawn with his pointy little teeth and aerial gymnastics.

Hey, Tony! Thanks for reading!

That's an awesome shot of the egret eating a pipe fish. Did you snap that?

Planking! ROFLMAO!!!! Damn, we miss you.

Carolyn, I completely ripped that picture off from Wikipedia.

DW, we miss you, too! Plank in Georgia for us.

Wikipedia has an entry (actually, two identical entries, one for "planking" and the other for "the lying down game")that discusses the possible and conflicting origins.

Contemplation does not seem to be an element, except to the extent that you want to contemplate the most bizarre place to plank and get as many people involved as possible. Evidently little contemplation was done by the guy that fell off the 7th floor balcony while planking.

I would consider planking, but who would get me up off the ground again when I was done?

Good for Tucker! Good for the bird that didn't get hit! Good for the rolling GPS tower. Good for all boomers at the beach and especially YOU! I learn so much from this blog. Keep it up! I have to go do some planking now.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planking_%28fad%29#Notable_Incidents>"lazy parkour" HAHAHAHAHA! Sue, the dangers were not lost on me, and I relied completely on Annie and the kindness of strangers.

Sherry, you are too kind! My mother never let me watch The Three Stooges for fear of what I would "learn," so just to be safe, don't tell your mom you read this.

I just learned about planking recently too and was able to goad my traveling companions (Boomers all) into providing me with some interesting photo ops! I think it's like flag pole sitting...it doesn't have a point and that's the point!

Great photos of Tucker...he looks so happy ( and full of mischief).

Very impressive gymnastics there. I'm particularly taken by the full and complete extension achieved on the "planking" pose.

Brava Donna! Boomers are not always easy to goad. I'm also in favor of doing pointless things.

Thanks, Nina. I am rather proud of my performance, and I am honored to have served with the quasi-Olympic team.
