Cowed into submission

It's fun getting visitors from Judy's blog!   Push the longhorns off the sofa and sit down.

Here's a fancy visitor.  I fear she does not take her airboat captaining seriously enough.

WARNING:  THE FOLLOWING MAY CONTAIN BITS OF EDUCATION.  PLEASE CHEW CAREFULLY.

The pointy parts on an alligator's back are called "scutes," as in, "Scutes me, but which way is the alligator?"  They are like solar panels, and they gather warmth for the 'gator, like a hot rock massage.  Alligators have 10 fingers and eight toes, and their tracks look like this:

Here are some beautiful things we saw at Anahuac Lake:

A cypress swamp

Cedar berries?

What is your poop du jour?  Okay, I'll have the salad.

We took ourselves down to the Bolivar Peninsula to check out the beach boondocking situation.  We like the egalitarian feel of the place.  You got something to live in?  Bring it on down and put it on sticks!

I think the Duck will fit in nicely.

Here's where we are right now, disguised as people who are contributing to society.

Merry Christmas, girls! I'm one of those who found you from Judy's blog. You quack me up! (Sorry..) I am a wannabe fulltimer, and have added your blog to my list of favorites to check everyday. (Hi Judy!) Deanna

Aha! That's a long climb with my load of skivvies!

Merry Christmas! Why would a Duck need to be up on pilings?

Merry Christmas in your new place.

What band is a cow favorite?
A: Moody Blues

Cyn and Lou: GROAN! I'm groaning because I didn't think of them. Well-pun, my friends. Well-pun.

Donna, thank you, and it's my pleasure, literally.

Sue, you make a good point, and we do weigh the same as a duck ... A WITCH!

Merry Christmas, you guys!

I also linked to your blog from Judy's. Hub and I are wannabes and hope to hit the road someday soon.

I have spent the last two days, on and off, reading all your blog entries. Thank you for all of the laughter! It makes me happy when I find others who have a similarly "warped" view of the world as mine.

Meowy Christmas to you, Annie and all of the fur babies!

The Good Luck Duck said...

Page, I'm so glad you came over! But, reading all the entries? I'm afraid I just can't recommend that [*shudders*].

Are you guys already in the process? I hope you'll write about getting there, and not wait until you're stowed and gassed up. I don't see a blog listed for you - is there one?

Love the cow photos. We have been trying to get a good duck and cow photo for a while now. Thank you for stopping by the Duck Bob Duck blog. We love reading about other duck's adventures.

I feel really smart now after all that edgumicating in you post... ;c)

The Good Luck Duck said...

Bob, I'm glad you let your curiosity get the better of you. Yes, a Duck-n-Cow shot would be most excellent, and something I'd pay (attention) to see.

Merry Christmas, Nina!

Paul and Marti, that is always a very real hazard in this blog. One guy learned so much here that he was never really the same.

when you all head south, you gonna take the ferry to Galveston? Almost always see dolphins on the trip and it's one of the cheapest (free) cool things in Texas. Did I mention it's free? Our family calls it our redneck cruise ship, har. We never go to Galveston without taking the ferry up to Bolivar...In fact, we don't GO to Galveston, we GO to Bolivar via Galveston.

The Good Luck Duck said...

Funny, Les, the very second I clicked on your comment, Annie mentioned the ferry. Redneck cruise ship - har! Yes, we're doing that tomorrow!

Is the Duck heading west, per chance? As full-timers we're heading out for our favorite boondocking spot in the Anza Borrego Desert. But don't tell anybody.... Happy New Year!

The Good Luck Duck said...

Oooh, you have my attention! Will you be in the State Park there (I won't tell a soul)? We're looking forward to getting our pass and spending lots of time in NM state parks.

We're heading west - obliquely - by way of Padre Island. Big Bend is on our list, and then NM! Something else might crop up - who knows? - but that's the general plan right now.

The Good Luck Duck said...

Oh! I was fooled! You're going to California. You can tell me about your super-secret boondocking spot, though. I'm trustworthy.

Is that a wheel chair ramp going up to the trailer on stilts?

The swampy area there looks much like here on the prairie in Florida.

Your photos throughout the blog are AWESOME. I am jealous.

The Good Luck Duck said...

Hi MissMermaid - thanks!

It sure does look like a wheelchair ramp. I was only thinking that I was glad it wasn't steps, and I could just shuffle my way up to do laundry if I needed to.
