- If you don't want to invest time reading on my say-so, try watching Forks Over Knives on Hulu, Netflix, or Amazon. A much more modest 1:36 investment. Then you'll get the book anyway.
- Roadrunners* do not say "meepmeep." They say "phbrrrrrrptt!" I can say this authoritatively because I just watched one "phbrrrrrrptt!" past my window.

Thanks for the shout out! Wouldn't it be great if everyone read this and changed the way they eat. That would totally fix the health care problem but lots of doctors and drug companies would be none to pleased.
Now how do you pronounce phbrrrrrrptt??? I can't believe you saw a real live roadrunner. I was out there in that there west for months and saw nary a single one. Unfair I say!

I watched half of Forks on NetFlix and then had to go make dinner. I felt odd making the Crab cakes I had ready. I did use my homemade bread crumbs from my whole wheat bread! Craig and I watch NetFlix together all of the time. I wonder what his reaction to this will be. We may not be ready to become Vegans yet, but we have been eating much less animal protein than ever before.
The roadrunners are coming north as the climate warms up - they've been spotted in Monticello, Utah, just 45 miles south of Moab and in the mountains. I saw one in Snow Canyon by St. George, but that's pretty warm country so maybe not so unusual. They're very cool birds.
Did the roadrunner cause you and Annie to fall off a cliff or give you an anvil or blow you to smithereens with dynamite? I hope the appearance of that creature leaves you in peace.
I'm trying to go vege, I've already made a lot of changes. I've read so many of these books in the past 10 years. Sherry's comment talks about everyone changing their eating habits. How do we get rid of all of the processed junk in the grocery stores and then what happens to the people that work for all of those companies. The world would need a major shift to keep everyone employed if eliminating all of this junk, processed food.

Fixing vegan lasagna with cashew cheese (recipes from "Veganomicon") for dinner. Quite tasty. Don't miss dairy or meat one teeny bit! When you eat this way, your taste buds wake up, your weight and blood pressure go down. What's not to love about it??

Andra, it was fraught with anxiety. I used to always hope Wile E. Coyote would get that damn bird JUST ONCE. So smug. However, I did not try to get him into an ACME cooking pot, so I hoped I was safe.
Teri, my picture of a perfect world would have demand for healthy foods way up and demand for "junk" food down so much that economic pressure would create more need for produce and plant foods in general. We'd still need people to grow it, and land that has been used for concentrated animal harvesting could be repurposed. That's my "perfect" world. In real-life, I think that higher demand for plant-based eating would still drive agriculture, so that small farms and CSA's (community-supported agriculture) could grow and fill that niche. Instead of industries growing so huge and then telling US what we want, our dietary demands would push industry.
And, we can't really talk about everyone eating this way until everyone can afford to eat this way. Beef and corn are so highly-subsidized in the US that it's much more affordable to buy highly-refined, highly (corn) sweetened, low-nutrition foods than to fill your cart with whole grains and vegetables and fruits.

That's what did it, huh? I can believe it; it's very powerful. I just looked up a video on making cashew cheese. It reminded me of Annie making "mac and yeese" years ago, and of the unsatisfactory outcome. This looked better.

Chinle, our whole life is one big post about hitting the road with cats. Is your cat a stay-around-camp kind of kitty, or a let-me-outta-here kitty? Does she already travel well? I think a comfortable carrier might be a part of tent camping, a bigger or smaller part depending on her temperament. Are you bringing Quoth the raven? Wow, do I love that name, or what.
