Once you're out here, you'll notice other people living "the life." We've run into Gail a couple of times, and another guy who stayed a while down in Willard Springs. Lots of places to be, but no particular hurry to be in them. One fellow lives in a bright yellow bus. Slender man, long, wild, gray hair? Has a dog? Wears his shirt open all the time? I'm describing him so you'll know what to tell the rangers, because Annie looked out the window in our no-neighbors campsite to see him standing and staring at the Duck. Dude. Don't make me load my egg cannon. This is no yolk.
I dreamed it was my son's 21st birthday, and I wrote him an amusing essay about Alexander McCall Smith, who, it turns out, is a very funny, very large, African-American gay man. [Mr. Smith may contact me to smooth out the details of my characterization, of course, but once written on the Internet, good luck with that.] Hope you like it five years ago, Phil!

In times of no sun do you ever run your generator? I have been wishing Annie was here as my "slip rings" need cleaning and I don't know what they look like.....or where to find them.....
I guess I have that kind of weather to look forward to. Thanks for advice on the library.

I've wondered about the solar thing.... we don't have it... Bill says we don't need it.... heck, we're probably at top end of weight with our rig anyway.... (and I just had a big dinner... damn!)... BUT... So... how long CAN you last out there without recharging (your batteries...)? Also.. do you really get concerned about the long-hair, open shirt dudes? Just wonderin'

I'm sure that description fit a good 20% of the Arizona population. Did I tell you I had a winter home in Tucson? Way back in the roaring 90's? I am loving your new digs. I can't wait to check it out for my own self. I do know Flag gets plenty of snow in the Winter.
Was beginning to wonder/worry a bit, been days since any quacks from the ducks. So now we all know who to look for if duckies go missing... will be a DUDE with open shirt and long hair... oh, that describes my hubby too .. eeeek

Hmmmmm all rain, no sun, snarky dude.....and I was thinking boondocking was for me. If I tune in tomorrow do I get the rest of the story? Or if I tune in but don't see a story, who should I call? Oh dear that's whom should I call.

That dude was probably wondering why you have no generator. It was either Blue Moon or Al (though both have alibis, I suspect). :)
Sorry about the lack of solar for power, but please don't send the rain away. Instead maybe send the open-shirted dude away.
You must be in the only spot in the US that is having rain. Maybe you could move on to where it is really needed. It seems to follow you.

Al, Blue, and Chris: we do have a generator. We just haven't used it since the solar install and now it seems like a very unpleasant prospect. It takes FOREVER to fill our bank, and has no exhaust pipe, so we have to time it for a moment with a stiff starboard to port wind. In general, it's such an unsavory prospect that we'd rather conserve and let the weak sunshine do its work.
Sharon, apparently at least eleven days. :D Our batteries are resting at 12.5 at night. That's not full, but not dangerously low, either.
We didn't get any heebie-jeebies from the wild-looking guy. We do pay attention to our HJs, should we get them, but it's rare that we actually feel unsafe. I think he was probably thinking, "that is one spectacularly-dull rig. I'd paint it yellow." And, so would we!
Levonne, the library is a wild and splendid thing. I'm in favor.
Chris, I'm not sure how I feel about my wife finding and servicing your "slip rings." I'm not closing the door on it, though.
We have a generator, and not being as cool as you duckies are, no solar. Sounds like it would be simple to connect an exhaust pipe........ but then, like us, you might have to give up coolness points!!
Although, on second thought, you'd be cooler! (I crack me up.............)

BM ... no, that's very wrong. Blue, it seems like it would be sort of easy to do the genny exhaust. I was just given the suggestion of a Genturi. I guess we're reluctant to get back on that horse, even though the backup power would be handy.
