Hiking Transept Canyon Trail, North Rim Grand Canyon

IMGP1833

We were proud of ourselves for walking three miles without summoning National Park EMS. Even more unusual? We did it before noon.

Go to the General Store at Visitor Services. Park there, then walk through the campground to reach the trailhead.

IMGP0682...and this was how I saw her last.

A ruin. Still, some nice curtains, a few throw rugs...

This is how chuffed we were at halfway. Annie says this face is looking for a brain.

The Castle ARRRGGGGHHH.

Later that day, I was cold. Don't hate me because I'm beautiful.

This is how I saw her last leads to a rectangular outline in the dirt? Hmm.... too late for EMS :)

ARGGGGHHHH! The scary monster face! I won't sleep tonight.

LOL Maria!

Sleep is overrated, hon.

Really nice atmospheric shots. Love that trail through the mist. Castles and canyons and a little fixer-upper. Fun times.

It's your fashion sense that has me all in a fluster of jealousy. It serves a function, though. It's helping me avoid the jealousy I feel about you being at the Grand Canyon.

Now I'm literally LOL. If you were here now, there's a good chance you'd see me like this, and that's no kindness to your mental health.

Pink is definitely your color. :-)

Awesome misty shots!

I hate that Fall is sending her warnings.... I'm not done with Summer. Loved the Misty shots tho....maybe more sun later in the day.

Shot after shot of a murky fog shrouded landscape and then all of a sudden, with NO warning.....HOLY HOT PINK!!!! I'm awake now. :)

I like the misty, slightly spooky shots. Could make for good campfire stories...who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?...

I'm impressed that you walked to the lodge, and back then drove back to the lodge. Thanks for attending my geo talk today. You do look Hot in pink.

HA! Mike & Terri, and Brenda, I'm glad you're not hatin'.

KLB, I'm ambivalent about autumn this year. I want to see it because I know I won't be around for what comes after. On account of driving away, I mean.

Donna, the Shadow knows.

Gaelyn, LOL! It was probably a hot flash. It was a good talk - I'm glad we came, too. I always think I don't want to learn anything, and then it turns out I do. I need the mnemonic again, though. :(

Been on that very same trail. Wonderful! But I didn't have the spooky fog or the beauties walking it. Hot pink Honey is for you!!

Haha - thanks, Sherry. I'll wear it constantly now! You were probably moving a lot faster than we were, though.

Love the photos... I gotta do the hike one day... I'm pretty sure I could do it now.

¡Vizcacha! said...

Swankie, you could do it twice.

Whatz with the clouds - potential rain or just a misty fog? (Play Misty for Me...?)

The goofy closeup of the two of you made me laugh. Tanks, I needed that!

If that ruin isn't on NP ground, you could prob get it for a song... yeah, a fixer-upper.

Love the misty pictures. I have to get up there. Did South Rim a few years ago but went to late to see North.
You 2 are a real kick love your blog. I have some throw rugs and old cutains you can have.

Always get a kick outta your take on life, love your sense of humor, even on misty hikes.

Did you have to get permission to install those curtains and throw rugs?

Misty mornin', don't see no sun;
I know you're out there somewhere having fun. Bob Marley is loving it..

A hat like that might come in handy as I wait for Isaac’s arrival.

Power to the Pink!!

You guys crack me up! :)

Mighty impressive that you hiked 3 miles before noon in the fog. Keep up the good work, and good photos!

The Good Luck Duck said...

Intrepid, it burned off, so I say "misty fog." Misty of Chincoteague.

Thanks, Jojo, I'm glad! I'll be by to pick up the rugs tomorrow morning.

Thanks, Paul and Marti! You know the NPS - permits, permits, permits. Plus, people are always stopping by now.

Harriet, "yes!" to all you said. Take care with that Isaac fellow. He's up to no good.

Thanks, Barbara! :D

Thanks, J&G! Of course, we're still recovering.
