I used to say that corn and cows get the best views. Now I'll add "boondockers."
These guys get pretty close.
You may say they're herbivores, but I don't care for the way they chew while they look at me.
We can even get bad TV.
Sometimes people visit the wilderness without their potty. It happens. Some people who only use conventional toilets think that poop and toilet paper vanish magically when they flush. RVers can correct that notion. Toilet paper abides. The rain is not going to melt it. Wind and sun will not disintegrate it. Pulling up your pants and walking away does not dissolve it. You may as well be wiping with Tupperware.
It's cold enough tonight for us to be in thermal pajamas and have Mr. Heaty on. Tomorrow night will require 10° more thermal protection and another log on Mr. Heaty.
Levonne Gaddy and her husband spent three years full-timing in their RV and volunteering at California state parks. Now Levonne is involved in a creative project around her experience, and she is making you a Decent Proposal. Read about it HERE.
Let me know if you have a shop or service you'd like me to mention in our RV holiday round-up. I keep calling it that, so I'll probably stick to it. I'll post it around Thanksgiving, either before or after Walmart employees have to get up from their turkey dinner and get to selling flat-screen TVs.
Which boosts me onto my soapbox (grunt) to remind you that buying from artisans and independent vendors means that you're actually supporting a real person's efforts. They're taking that money to the Piggly Wiggly, or they're buying a few gallons of gasoline, or they're filling their propane tanks. In return, you're receiving a product that you will not see everywhere else. When someone admires it, you will say Thank you - it was handmade by an artist I found in _____. Which is 1000 X cooler than saying you got it at Walmart. And you won't have to get up at 4 AM to buy it.

Dang, looks like you're right down the hill from me. Stay warm.
Ewwww tp in the desert. Now that's gross. Sure hope you aren't posting to the guilty.
But those other views are fabulous.
So how cold was it?? 39 here Thursday night. Brrrrrrrr!
Over the last couple of weeks I've lost track of where you guys are. Sure hope you didn't get caught in any of that wind yesterday. Sure do like that view out your window.
Pack it out! That's my motto.
Jim and Sandie, we're in Cottonwood now. I'm pretty sure we were caught in that wind, but mostly our angle was good and it wasn't catching us broadside.
Right, Sherry? Icky. I'm sure no one who reads this is guilty. I was just preaching to the choir. Last night was 43° (inside) -not sure about outside, Probably...43°?
Gaelyn, we sorta are - Cottonwood. NOT WARM!
Yeah, Page!
...and they say Montana is big sky country...looks like AZ might be too.
When we stopped at the visitors center in Lone Pine, CA, I saw what I thought were poop disposal kits for doggies. On closer inspection, they were for people, along with instructions on how to use them in the Mt. Whitney wilderness and a warning to PACK IT OUT.
Very big sky, Donna. It's probably my favorite feature - the huge, blue sky.
Poop-packing kits! Nice.
yep we just hightailed south and left the cold front behind as we are hiding out in Texas...
I am between St. Johns, AZ and Sanders,AZ at about 6,000 ft... and I got snow overnight. Now it is too slick and mushy to leave, so I have to stay here and visit more with my friend Nemo. http://www.arizonaexplorations.com
Will probably head to Quartzsite in a few more days.
What a fantastic HORIZON you have, my dear! All the better to see for miles and miles even if it does get a bit cool.
Looks like a beautiful place!
I agree 100% about buying from artisans whenever possible. We get a lot of our stuff from Etsy and always get comments about it. I've converted quite a few people to Etsy lovers.
Stay warm!
Cool, Molly! I like shopping on Etsy. Mostly I put things into my cart, then take them out, and sometimes put them back again. I have to deliberate a long time!
Isn't it great, Rick? This may be my favorite view yet (but, I think I say that every time).
Swankie, sorry to hear you got snowed in (YUCK!), but glad you're with a friend. Thanks for the URL - it looks like a useful blog.
Heyduke, what are ya, chicken? I'm sort of wishing I were in Texas, or at least lower in Arizona.
Niiiice view indeed, but you may have to get your feathery butts down to some warmer weather soon. Cats will start complaining and then you'll have a full feline mutiny on-board. And who knows WHAT that will do to the toilet paper.
Nina
Do I have to have an Etsy store for you to give me a plug???
I do photo restoration work, learned it from my Grandma who did it manually... but I upgraded to Photoshop. http://swankiewheels.blogspot.com/2011/09/photographic-restoration-services.html
And I also so pencil sketches - see http://swankiewheels.blogspot.com/2011/09/recent-art-work-sketches-for-gasoline.html
I have a link on my Blog for donations for the sketches but may be posting a fee chart soon or putting samples on Etsy when I get a store set up. How do you set up something like that for original works of art???
Hope to see you both soon.
I can never come up with an intelligent comment when I visit here. I'm too busy laughing. I'll keeping trying though.
Nina, the cats wait until we're in bed and then slap us senseless. Two feathery butts and six furry ones are ready to get some warmer place.
Swankie, just a website will do. With Etsy, I think you might post your sketches and the photos they came from, as an example. Etsy is set up so people can commission you if that's how you work. I'm glad you saw this, because I was going to ask you if you wanted me to mention you. Yay! You do beautiful work.
Angie, I'd rather you be amused than intelligent...you know what I mean. You're intelligent enough in your own blog!
