Shop Mobile! Support RVing vendors.

We've packed down seconds of Field Roast and potatoes, gravy and cranberry relish, pie and coffee. What does it all mean? It means it's time to shop! I'm concentrating on mobile vendors today; the people who are making their way on the road.

☀Chinle Miller of Spotted Dog Ranch is the author of the Bud Shumway Mystery series. I'm reading these, and enjoying them. The characters are warm and sympathetic, and...mysterious! Miller is prolific, and you should have no trouble finding a book - or two - that sounds right for you or as a gift. Perfect for reading while you're in the Southwest, or just sitting at home thinking about Bigfoot. Browse at Yellow Cat Publishing.

☀Marianne Edwards is the author of the definitive guides to free camping, Frugal Shunpikers' Guide to RV Boondocking. Buy one or buy them all. The dispersed-camping fan in your life will love them. [We receive commission from this item if you purchase through our link. Win-win-win.]

☀Cherie and Chris are Technomadia. They have developed apps that are very popular among travelers.
  • Coverage? keeps nomads connected by displaying areas with best cell coverage for work or play.
  • State Lines keeps you informed of traffic law changes as you cross from state to state.
  • No Excuses: Go Nomadic can be read for free, or downloaded as a pay-as-you-wish ebook. Maybe this is the gift you'll give yourself this season.

Charlene Swankie is a bundle of talent, and you can see it in her sketches. I've seen her portfolio, and side-by-side photos and resulting sketches, and her skill is outstanding. This would make a lovely gift. She also sketches pets.

Charlene restores photographs, as well.

Levonne Gaddy is a personal historian. She says:

You do take your stories with you when you go unless you record them while you are here. Capturing a personal history to share with family and friends is a priceless act. The loss of an elderly family member's personal history can be tragic. I can help you turn stories into a book, a written transcript, audio recordings or a film. Call me if you want to chat about a project. I can easily work with you if you are in the Central Central Coast or Los Angeles area.  http://www.levonnegaddy.com/p/capture-your-history-record-your-stories.html   (520) 306-7329

☀Peter and Juwels of The Winnebago Diaries are candle makers, and you've never seen the likes of these candles! Browse at their website, and be charmed by their personal and professional styles. I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't enjoy these natural and nostalgic beeswax candles.

☀Jennifer Johns is a sculptor and needleworker. She creates original designs and turns them into beautiful, durable works of art for your home or garden. Browse her store at J Johns Designs.

☀Cait Macanliss creates cute, whimsical, one-of-a-kind Scrapdragons from her own patterns. Adorable G-rated gifts for the fantasy-loving adult.

Roxanne enjoys crafting fun, sparkly, and well-made jewelry. Visit her Etsy shop at Eight Cat Design and her Facebook page. She is offering a 15% discount  (quack!) in her shop when you checkout with the code "DUCK15." She promises to stop referring to herself in the third person almost immediately.

I haven't received any compensation for mentioning any of these vendors, or for saying good things about them. What is wrong with me?

We hope your Thanksgiving was satisfactory, in whatever way you chose to quack.

Excellent, Anne. *tapping fingers together like Montgomery Burns*

You all, don't be shy about sharing this on Facebook or Google. Or Twitter. Or on a sticky note to your mom.

Roxi... thanks for the plug. Now why didn't you put a plug in my mouth when I went back for that second plateful???? Ouwwww! I must remember I can no longer eat that like. My tummy shrunk the past year or two.

Also... like folks to know proceeds from any sales this winter will go toward jewelry-making classes, in hopes of one day being able to draw more income from my rock-collecting obsession.

Spent Thanksgiving with about a dozen other vandwellers in the AZ desert... and ti was a blast. (but there was way too much food).

For us, today is BUY NOTHING DAY in protest of the ridiculousness that is Black Friday. But beginning December 1, well that's a different story. Thanks for the tips

Thank you for all the cool links. I look forward to reading "no excuses, go nomadic" and something from Chinle. Not shopping because my goal is to lighten my heavy load this next year so I too can get back into fulltime rving. You guys are having way to much fun!!!

I'm rather anti-shopping these days. But know these to be good made in America products.

Roxanne said...

I know it, Gaelyn. If I can't buy it in a thrift store, do I really need it? [Okay, "yes" to socks and underwear...usually.]

Yeah, SUE! Lighten that load!

I hear that, Sherry. We passed a Target last night at 6:30, and people were lined up. Lined up. Sorry, Target employees - no pie for you.

Do, Mary! Cute.

Jeannie, I like those candles, too. If only cats weren't flammable! Oh heck, they can take their chances...

Swankie, somehow I didn't eat dessert! Okay, okay, I ate a cookie. But, I gluttonized myself on dinner, so there's that. Vandwellers seem like a lively bunch - I'll bet it was a good time.
