We bought a Geo Tracker today.
We've also spent nice parts of two days hanging out with Myrna and Neil. They've made us welcome in their home, and given us great ideas about things to see and DESERT ROADS TO TRAVEL! Neil has offered to teach Annie some things about repairing engines, and Annie is ecstatic. She's sleeping in their garage so she doesn't miss anything.
Our suggestion to throw in Baby was rejected. |
They've done us a couple of big, kind favors that made this whole transaction so much easier. Thanks, Neil and Myrna! *waves*
We're licensing and registering the Tracker in NYS, since it's much cheaper that way. We're still New York residents anyway. THANK YOU, Alphonse and Bruno, for helping us do that.
Next, we'll sell the tow dolly, then the Prius.

I think you'll really like that rig. There was a guy and a gal driving one of those things around with the jeepers I was with last year in Quartzsite that went everywhere the jeepers went and they were good jeepers, although, I wouldn't expect you guys to be going those kinds of places,...........yet. :O)
Have fun with it,
Bobthebum
Awesome possum!!! Glad you found what you wanted. But I am kind o' jealous. We are NOT finding what we want. And we miss the desert. Especially Tucson. Oh homesick us!!! We'll be fine. I hope. :)
So happy for you two! You're going to have a blast in your new Geo. Glad you got the paperwork squared away and hopefully, Annie won't have to work on the engine too much! Congratulations!
Grace & Steve (in Tucson)
Oh man, that car looks like fun! Love it!
awesome all around! you're going to have a blast off-roading-- so much more to see and explore that way!
Ok wait. Last episode you couldn't find a tracker. Now you own one. I feel like I missed something here but glad you've got what you wanted. High adventures in the desert coming up I can see.
Congrats on the new wheels. Looks like fun.
That is one PURDY kitty cat.
You are so going to love your new ride. Congrats guys.
Cute little buggy bouncer to get really off the beaten track. Or to work if that W thing happens.
Yay!! Glad that you found one already. I'm sure you'll find a buyer for the Prius pretty quickly. Congratulations!
Jeanne
Thanks, Jeannie! I hope it's pretty easy to sell. It has always been a reliable and economical ride.
*shudder* That W thing. I had forgotten about that.
Thanks, Sandie! I'm expecting big fun, and easier towing.
I hope so, Donna. Yeah, Baby is very fluffy and altogether indifferent to my existence.
Sherry, when it's right, it's right. I don't think you missed anything. It was all "we don't have a Tracker," and then it was, like, "we have a Tracker."
Lynne, we'll be in the elite, sand-in-our-panties crowd.
Kim, here's hoping!
Grace, once Annie got a load of your Sammie, she was on the prowl.
"Awesome possum" - LOL! I'm sorry you guys aren't finding the right thing yet, but there's no slope. First you don't have it, then suddenly you do. And, I still feel homesick occasionally, too. :(
Bob, give us a couple of weeks before you schedule the boulder photo shoot.
WOW that was fast. Good luck with it. If we meet again I will have to throw change in it. hahah
Congratulations. You two made quick work of that--finding a Geo. You are the Good Luck Ducks.
Did you pick that one out for me? Holding it for me until I get out west, Thanks.
Jo, let's do meet again. With or without change. :D
Thanks, Susan! It was Annie's diligent searching, and good vibes from the sellers.
We're thoughtful like that, Teri.
Noticed a lot of folks with Geo Trackers around Ajo Arizona. Nice little rigs & it puts you into a whole new realm of fun. For anyone boondocking here in the Southwest, a 4 wheel drive vehicle is a must. Trackers & Jeeps fit that to a T. We did have a 4x4 pick-up truck for a short while but didn't like it for off roading. Too big, too clumsy. Jeeps & Trackers can run many of the ATV trails & that's a nice bonus for off roading. Enjoy your new adventures in the desert......
OK I was just jealous before, now I am insanely jealous.
Job hunting - selling the tow dolly... Are you folks putting down roots??
You two look like a pair of very happy car owners!
Congrats!
A doctor I do consulting work for just bought one for his daughter last month & she absolutely loves it. ~Mary
That's good to hear, Mary. We hear good things about them.
So far, so good, P&B!
Not yet, Page. If I took work, it would be temporary. And the Tracker comes with a tow bar and can be towed 4-down. Towing the Prius on a dolly has become the bane of Annie's existence, and that's what first motivated her to search for something more appropriate for us.
Oh Nancy! Says the woman who just bought a rig!
Al, I hadn't thought about ATV tracks. That IS a whole new dimension of fun. Yeah, we couldn't take reading about people in their 4X4s out having raucous fun - we had to get in on the rauc.
We just bought a Suzuki Sidekick which is the same as the Tracker and we are having lots of fun with it. Enjoy!
You got lucky finding a Tracker. We searched for one for awhile before we bought the Subaru. You will love having a high clearance vehicle!
Yay! You're going to LOVE your Tracker. I loved to zip around almost anywhere without worrying so much about fuel. The icing on the cake was the option to go topless if I wanted. It was so ... so liberating.
The only reason I don't have it now is that didn't have the traditional/normal baby seat holding capability. Hence why I got an Escape. Yep, it is as old as my son and I still love these little things. LOL
Just don't touch it in the middle of a summer day. Black + Tucson heat = pain!
One of my sisters has had 2 of them in the past. If I were to tow, it's the vehicle I'd be seeking too. Congrats!ii
YEAH!! The toad that came with my View is a tracker too! Though mine is a 1994, so I suspect I have a few years on you. Sure is fun to drive, especially "unzipped," though I have not yet had a chance to get off the pavement.
I look forward to you Ducks leading us to the fun roads!
Cool, Suzanne! Nope, this is a '93. We can probably share the repair guide.
Thanks, Cyn! When you can find them, they're pretty affordable, too, which makes them a good choice.
Good to remember, Penny! No car seat seat, and hot in the summer. I'm 50% safe.
Jim and Gayle, we feel lucky to have happened onto this. We've had to take a pass on too many desert roads!
KCG, that's great! That was on our list.
Perfect choice. Well done. Great xmas gift to each other. I know you will just love the extra freedom to roam.
Ditto to some previous comments. We had a little Tracker similar to that and it was a great little car. Took us all over the place. We did finally buy a newer tracker and it is also a great car. Good choice! They are perfect Toads. 4 down and easy to hook up.
A great little tow car, no dolly, and too much fun everywhere you go, enjoy!
I know it has nothing to do with buying a car...but happy holidays to you two...thankful during this melancholy holiday this year that we've met so many great rvers out there (like you) and hope you have nothing but peace and joy this holiday......Robin and Jim
Thank you, Jim and Robin. We wish the very same for you.
Hey, scoot over, I will soon be on my way! And, you were right. One day nothing, then all of a sudden......BINGO!!
Sell the Prius...? Ouch. I love my Prius, but it sits in the garage when we take off, and I'm sure it gets lonesome. Our Toad is a Smart car, with FLAMES, which makes it go faster! We've taken it on some back roads that made us gasp, but I bet your (scoot back to top of page) Geo Tracker can go where Smartie can't. Hmmm... and harumph....
Hey, have FUN!
We love our Prius, too. :( Smartcars are SO CUTE. I want to chuck its chin every time I see one. If I saw one with flames I might melt.
Michael, we are SO HAPPY for you! This is very exciting.
Merry Christmas from our gang in Mazatlan.
Congratz on your new purchase!
I had been looking for a tracker or something similar to tow 4-down, but just today I was thinking, "the Ducks use a tow dolly, save your $!" Now I see that the tow dolly isn't for the Ducks. . . back to the beginning. . . LG
Thanks, Contessa! Your Xmas pictures were very pretty.
Thanks, Berg!
LG, sorry we let you down. Yeah, Annie muscled the dolly around for a long time (it's much easier with a dolly dolly), but just finally got tired of it. Plus, we wanted something we could go backroading in.
