Tucson Rain is not an aftershave.

The problem with exclaiming about rain in Tucson is that everyone in Tucson already knows, and everyone somewhere else doesn't care. In the desert, where you're snuggled up next to creosote bushes, rain smells great. I mean, GREAT.

The downside to three days of clouds is that our solar panels - already taxed by short winter days - are begging for Ecuador. Because our storage capacity is adequate, we still have plenty of power. The batteries just aren't topping off every day like they do in the summer.

We met Jo from Mom's Little Run Away and the Tin Can Cabin for lunch at Coyote Pause Café. It was great to meet you, Jo! We enjoyed our lunch and conversation, and she led us astray into the local artist's consignment shop. My wallet was saved only by feeling faint and needing to sit on the cowboy boot try-on chair, which was far from all the jewelry I was putting my eyeballs on.

Here is a picture I stole outright from Jo:

I mean, I SAW the same rainbow - isn't that close enough? Fine. Go over and tell her what a knavess I am. And, what a cool shot it is.

Yesterday we needed to stop for some Three Dollar Charles and other consumable products. We got sidetracked by this description:

Regan, you adorable single wastrel! Turn around and LOOK AT THE CHUCK!

Didn't know about Cat Mountain Station. Thanks for that info. I'll definitely have to check it out! Grace (in Tucson)

I totally agree.... nothing like a fresh rain to clean the air! It smells like perfume to me with no sneezes!

That is some rainbow picture. Well done Jo! I know you must be reading this thief's blog. Tell her it is copyrighted and if she knows what's good for you she'll just hand over the Chuck.

no no....if she knows what's good for HER....for heaven's sake. Take the keyboard away from that woman.

I have to believe the sun will return. If not, STOP, I need a bottle of Regan's.

I have no clue as to what Three Dollar Charles is but I'll go for it over Regan's pick. I think.

None of my friends in Seattle (where they have had 8 dry days since October 12) ever offers any sympathy when it rains here. Heartless. We've been to Coyote Pause, but missed the Emporium, thanks for the tip.

Ummm... I bet that AZ rain smells better than the rain we get here in Oregon. Ours smells like mold...oh, no, that's just my bathroom walls. Nothing EVER gets totally dry here in the winter. Even my dryer sheets feel damp.

WELL I NEVER! But it was pretty wasn't it? So will forgive this time. I enjoyed meeting you both also. I do talk to much though don't I?
BTW the Catback Mountain Shop is closed on Mondays.
Pete from Tucson Mountain Motors called me today, seems he has a VW Van there someone is selling. Heading over there Monday.
I think the sun is going to shine tomorrow.

"Begging For Ecuador" should be the title to your new hit single.

Oh, I needed to laugh. Thank you ever so much.

It's always my pleasure to help you laugh, Teresa.

I love that, Rodney!

Jo, you don't talk too much at all! Fingers crossed on the VW - if it's "The One" we want to see it.

Har Donna! Damp dryer sheets. My former in-laws used to live in a house they built into the bank in humid, cloudy upstate NY. Great insulation, but they were moldy all the time. Then there's their house. [rim shot]

I hear you, Allison. My Seattle friends play me the world's smallest violin. They also never sympathized much when I talked about long winter nights in New York.

RJ, it's Annie's high-falutin' way of saying "three buck Chuck" - Trader Joe's line of Charles Shaw wines that sell for $2.99. Regan could buy three bottles of the Chuck for the price of his pick. I guess no one needs encouragement to buy cheap booze.

I feel better this morning, Gaelyn. You?

HeyDuke, do I have to cross the border to buy that...?

Haha Sherry! I see you've already sampled the Chuck. :D

I agree, Karen. Love to smell something good that doesn't stab me in the brain. Rain qualifies.

Grace, you can stop over when you hike to the petroglyphs!

OMG, I can't believe it! [Not to aggrevate your weird guilt issues, or anything.] Thank you for speaking up - I think of you frequently, always hoping you're preoccupied with wonderful happinesses.

Don't be guilty about not writing! That's just stuff. So glad you're okay.

We don't have a hose thing to put in your poopy hole (and suddenly this is porno blogging). We have a composting toilet. We might get back to LHC to explore, though, so watch yourself with those elaborate invitations!

I don't blame you for stealing that photo...it's so good I swear I've almost seen it myself :)
Where are you ducks spending the rest of winter? AZ all the way?
Nina

Nina, it looks like AZ until the weather breaks, then we may scoot over into NM to spend a few months. Although now Annie keeps reading me things about Anza Borrego. Will this be yet another power struggle? No, probably not.

Nickie and Jim said...

You will like Anza Borrego. The sun shines there.
