Southward-bound just a little: Sedona, Arizona

I left Flagstaff this afternoon for Sedona. That's not quite enough southward migration for this duck to bask in the night air. Let's talk about something else while my pin feathers fluff to hold the heat.

"Hyuh, hyuh, I'm the Marshall in these parts."
Scottsdale is known for being the frontier. But, all hyuh aside, downtown Scottsdale is a cool place to hang, at least at night. Maybe daytime!

The Grand Canal, Phoenix, at N. Central Ave.

I included this average photograph of a spectacular chandelier so I could tell you it costs $131,000.

The mural on the side of the building: priceless

A bird comes to drink pool water.

Really? A bird is drinking pool water?

Where?

WHERE?
I'll be hitting some Sedona/Old Cottonwood sights/sites soon.

Glad you are back to posting! Miss your fab quacking! And YES these silly black birds drink pool water, i saw a tribe of the things actually sit on floats at a hotel pool on the south carolina coast back in september and even dive in for a swim! the ocean was a stone's throw away, they didn't swim in the BIG pond. Happy 2014!

Sharon, I fell off blogrolls for some reason. It's true, I haven't been posting frequently lately, but here and there I quack off a few words. I'm glad you can see me again!

Lol, Judy! Or brighten his feathers.

Ruthie, those birds were saying Look how funny those big, naked things look in our pool!

Crows?? Ravens?? will drink or eat anything it seems. Where are you staying in Sedona. I've always wanted to visit there so give me a good look since I can't.

How is the weather in Sedona this time of year? I haven't been there yet but it's on my short list. Be safe and good travels. I might post to moonbeam and me later tonight if the mood strikes. I want to see if I can still remember how to load pictures.
Been a while.

We have crows, squirrels, and the occasional raccoon or goose all drinking out of our pool - not necessarily at the same time! Sedona is a great - I heard you could get your aura read there...but I wanted green so I didn't do it.

Go visit Red Rock Crossing while you are there! You will be glad you did!

I got a kick out of the blackbird photos. :) Thanks for the smiles and happy travels. :)

I'm glad, Bill. Thanks!

It's been a few years since I've been there, Geri. I seem to remember it's best at sunset?

Oh, Donna, you could have had a Christmas aura, like they serve them in New Mexico.

Rachael, I will go to see if you posted. I tried to comment there earlier, but something goofed. Sedona is very nice during the day, and cold at night.

Sherry, I'm doing my best! I'm just west of Sedona, on NFS land.

Love the grackle photos and your funny captions! They do love pool water and water fountains. I love all the sounds they make. There are tons of them on N. Padre Island, where we're spending the month of January. Glad to see you quacking again!

I wish you had come to the RTR! It's probably too late to get there now.

Emily, I enjoyed SPI - I hope you're enjoying it, too.

Anon, it probably is too late for this year. It just didn't happen for me this time, which is not to say it won't happen ever.

I think the bird is a grackle.
