Betty forced me out of my pajama-ed solitude and took me to Pie Town. We didn't have pie (I have no good excuse for that), but we did meet four Canada-to-Mexico bikers. Two of them (Hans and Denise) are updating on their Facebook page; they also keep a blog when they have enough connection and electricity. Check out Hans and Denise's Excellent Adventure.
Do you know Nita's Toaster House? It's a free hostel catering to through-hikers and -bikers. Nita isn't always there, but she leaves the hostel open. There are beds to bunk down in, electricity, even food and beer.
She's a trail angel, for sure.
I haven't been blogging because you don't need to know how I'm organizing my clothes, or how many ginger snaps I eat in one sitting. It has been a quiet life here for a little while, and it just feels right. After a while (how long? how long will my ginger snaps hold out?), it won't feel quite as right, and I'll load up Spud and caress the highway with her tires.
My driveway and boardwalk, though ... boy howdy! This is living! Sunbathing on my deck! Yee-haw! This is to tell you that I'd love to see more of you, and unless you call first, you'll see more of me.

I like pies and I like cookies, tho I prefer molasses cookies over ginger snaps! :- )
Are the bikers bicycle riders doing the trail?
How come no pie?
Soooooooooooooooo? Just how many Ginger Snaps can you eat in one sitting? ; ) When I was a little girl my Grandma would steep some Constant Comment tea served with Ginger Snaps on the side. I miss my Grandma... What is wrong with you??? NO PIE?! Now, I want pie... Chocolate Cream, Banana Cream, Coconut Cream, I like 'em all!
And thanks for leaving out those last pictures. Nobody wants to see more of me either. Just sayin'.
well I would have had Pie but Ginger Snaps and some solitude sound just about right to me too.
I thought I'd have pie, too. Then I ate some food and pie shifted in importance.
Anything for you, Bob.
MNM, numbers go that high, but no one has tried. Next time I promise: PIE
Nickie, they are bikers doing the trail. I also like molasses cookies, but Trader Joe's wasn't offering.
Great place for the bikers. I was hoping for pie:)
Maybe they should change the name to Not Just Pie Town.
I love those quiet times. With luck I will have one soon. Maybe.
How great of Nita to provide a place like that. And how rare for that kind of uncompensated hospitality to exist these days.
Bill, I'm moved by her spirit, too. Extraordinary.
Breathe, Kate.
Ha Al! We should present a petition to the town board.
Next time, C&A, I promise.
Nothing wrong with some down time...or with ginger snaps either.
I'm with Pam ^^^^^
Nice blog...you're funny :)
Thanks Kate, my new BFF!
I agree, Pam. I'm with you and Kate.
