Microburst August 16, 2015 - Percha Dam State Park, NM

Mostly pictures today, and not many words. No thanks necessary.

Thank goodness my shoes didn't move an inch.

This stuff moved about 20 feet. Shouldn't shoes move feet?

Spud is a tank.

Rangers were there first thing in the morning to begin clearing.

Everything is fine. No injuries, and not even any real property damage. "Microburst" sounds so cute! Like chewing gum with mouthwash inside.

Glad you're safe. I once sat through a tornado, in a tent. No fun.

Holy Macaroons!!! I can't imagine! Well, I can sort of imagine, but I have to stretch.

That had to be scary.
Glad everything is ok.

Glad you're okay.

When I drove through Percha Dam the place looked rather dumpy, especially the no-hookups sites. So maybe this will be an improvement after they clean up the damage.

Charlottesville had one before I left. Took down hundred year old oaks on top if houses which were squashed. The name does sound fluffy for what it does. I was wondering what you were doing, now I know.

Glad you and the spud are OK!

Egad! One of my favorite camps so hope it recovers. Glad to hear you made it through safely. It must have been scary.

I thought a brewery had a plumbing problem, but this was much scarier. Probably. Spud and flip flops definitely storm-proof, good to know. It is sad to see so many trees down though.

Hahaha Jodee! I would volunteer to stem the tide in that scenario. This one, not so much.

YIKES!!! just about says it, Heyduke!

David, there are still lots of nice trees around; they're just down a few. I imagine it was up and hosting campers later the next day.

Thanks, Anne!

Thanks, Tomahawk. I was scared, and all is well.

Now that was an experience, glad you are ok.

Really the best of both, right George? An experience, and being okay at the end of it.

The Good Luck Duck said...

Sherry, that's both scary and sad. Let's think of a better name for these monster flashes.

Geez, I thought about camping at Percha, but went to Caballo instead - thank God I did! I can't imagine having one of those trees landing on The Palms. Glad everything was okay for you and Spud. :)

It may sound cute, but that mess didn't look cute. Looks like raccoons were trying to steal your Trader Joe's bag!

The Good Luck Duck said...

Barbara, I heard the marina up at EB was a mess, too. Did you see any of that?

Nickie, apparently they were tired of eating my food raw, so they tried to make off with my cookstove, too.

We had one here in Mesa last night. Neither Mom or I had much damage but there was a lot of mobiles damaged pretty badly. Not the sort of thing I used to imagine as part of desert living. Still no electricity or air conditioning. Thanks Universe for restaurants to sit In and cool off.

The Good Luck Duck said...

Having no AC in Mesa is not funny.

Electric back on as of 3:45am. I was ready to head for Motel 8 with Mom and the cats.

Although it is outstanding your flip flops are still standing, I'm glad you weren't out standing in them during the storm.

There's "outstanding" and then there's "out standing." Thanks, Dragonfly.
