What I Did on Your Summer Vacation.

My friend, Betty, asked if I was going to write the blog anymore. She also registered a complaint about the poor quality of the nothing she had been seeing here recently.

Rainbow over Albuquerque.

I'm pleased to spend a lot of time with animals, but enough about my friends (RIM SHOT).

Rosie and Little Ann.

And enjoying other people's art.

And sprucing up my cabin, with my girlfriend's help.

I met my lovely daughter-in-law this week! She's married to my lovely son!

Nina and Phil.
We took them into the Gila Mountains...

Guess where?

Emory Pass

... and Truth or Consequences...

A Little Slice of Heaven, Truth or Consequences, NM. It used to be Brazen Fox, which used to be Happy Belly Deli.

We did the Monticello/Winston/Chloride trail...

After being told I can't get there, I have become obsessed with Monument Park.

...and the Datil trip, of course.

I brought them so they could picture where I do nothing.

One last scenic stop...

Sunset over Rio Grande, Elephant Butte, NM.

My mysterious side.

We enjoyed Nina and Phil and their youthful energy. I once had youth, but not energy.

They're still traveling home this morning, after so many delays that it could be amusing if they weren't so tired. They are currently disillusioned with United Airlines, unless UA does something amazing to make up for this trip. Your move, United!

Wow you have been busy this summer. Ane, look how long your hair has gotten, a sure sign it has been a long time since I've seen you. BTW I now use only your amazon link.

It's been over a year! We were at Abiqui Lake last time I saw you, I'm pretty sure.

Thanks for using my link, but I'm sorry for the reason.

The art is really spectacular. That was good to see. Happy to read you had a good summer with family and animals.

Thanks, OAT. It has been a good summer, and it's not over!

Cyndi, I was very touched that they would make this long trip just to see me. It was very good.

Ruthie, may your daughter-in-law be as terrific as mine is! Congratulations.

Jodee, Betty needs to have her knitting needles confiscated.

Sherry, I'm a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in hair. Not the lunch special I would recommend. Annie is doing very well, as far as I can divine!

Thanks, Allison! Yes, it's fun to spend time in other people's spaces and get a feel for what moves them.

We kinda do live in the Land of Gorgeous! (I'm in Sandia Park these days & holy crap, I'm gonna say that again, HOLY CRAP)

Contessa said...

Wow the cabin is really looking great.....as do you :)

The Good Luck Duck said...

Kate, I haven't been there yet. East of ABQ?

Thank you, Contessa! You're very kind.

Kate said...

Yup, between Tijeras & Golden, more or less. Sunset over the Sandias. Also more hummingbirds than I'd seen in the entire rest of my life, put together.

Pretty damn nice life. Have more of it!

The Good Luck Duck said...

Indeed, Al! Thanks - I will!

I don't know...that part of about the lunch special seems a bit too self-deprecating. Have you tried standing on your head and spooning clam chowder into your nose? It's almost guaranteed to make you sneeze.

The Good Luck Duck said...

Mike, you know that I'm going to sit here blankly thinking about that, then laugh at 3AM. I AM going to laugh, right?

MFH said...

Yes, it's to laugh! I've been reading Zippy cartoons from the '80s and it put me in mind of non sequiturs. Did you enjoy the pea soup laden insoles? Yer turn.

The Good Luck Duck said...

I remember it like an elephant.

MFH said...

Zippy was fond of Hostess products. In one he performed a humanitarian act by disrobing some past-date snoballs and eating them. Here's to circus peanuts...Fambly Dolla ist mein favs!

MFH said...

Been meaning to compliment you on your new photo; very nice. Who took it?

Hey Rox, I also only use your Amazon link so I hope you are getting a few pennies to help support your blog writing about the nothing you do so well. I love all your pics. Glad to see Phil and Nina made it out to see you. Carolyn and I still tell the tale of the we saw scorpions, red ants, and a rattle snake when we visited you in the desert...Today's trivia question: Which one did she get bit by? BTW, love your pic of your room, especially the bed pockets and the painting of some shelves...the illusion of having more stuff without the burden :-). Miss you, Annie

The Good Luck Duck said...

Mike, it was a "selfie," except my son was the "self."

Annie! I imagine I am getting many of Amazon's pennies - thanks! Carolyn was bitten by red ants, but she discovered both the rattlesnake and the scorpion.

Scrolling through history and noticed a comment I'D made!!!

I had no idea we went back that far!

Yes, I recall your recall challenges, but we've been conversing much longer than that.
