White Sands National Monument, New Mexico

Getting into the weapon garden was pretty easy. We parked on the outside, got our pass, and walked in.

Reception is still lousy.

Staring right down the Poconos of a jet thing.

I guess drinking water is important.

NOW we're talking!

L to R: Cheryl, yucca

The actual white sands are 30 miles up US 70.

How much further to the ocean, Mom?

These lumps look like cyanobacteria to me.

Nailed it.

Under the boardwalk - out of the sun - under the boardwalk - you'll be toasting your bun - under the boardwalk - people walking above - under the boardwalk - you'll ... SNAKE!!!

We kept on going to Alamogordo, because once you're this far, you're a fool to turn back without seeing it. There was a snack to be had at Brown Bag Deli. I don't want to say Cheryl's omnivorous toasted sub looked delicious. I don't want to say it. My vegan sub was also tasty, special-ordered.
