Taos Pueblo and Arroyo Seco

I am not supposed to use these photos for educational or commercial purposes. I never get angry letters accusing me of being educational.

It costs $10 to enter the Taos Pueblo, and $6 to bring your camera. Don't take pictures of community members without their permission, and do tip them if they agree.

I suggest that you read the brochure thoroughly before you run into the church and take a lot of pictures. Don't ask questions, just take my word for it.

This area was originally a church, but after a slaughter there it was turned into a burial site. The structure at the far end is the bell tower.

This structure may be 1000 years old. The mountain is probably even older.

I met a young man who told me beautiful places around Taos I should see that most people don't know about. He described some ceremonies that everyone is welcome to attend, and told me of his role in them. There are many things that cannot be spoken to someone outside the community, and I was grateful he was willing to come so close without crossing that line.

Gratuitous bee picture. At the Taos Ski Valley.

Shameless bee porn, same place as above.

 Taos Ski Valley.

I was going to go all the way and order ice cream at Taos Cow, but lost my nerve at the last minute. Maybe next time. This time, I just enjoyed a coconut water at Sol Food.

I've been enjoying a family staying near me on the river. They're also telling me good places to see, and inviting me for coffee every morning. Yay!

I'm about to do a new thing, so I'll tell you more about that later. It involves kitties and staying put for a few weeks and seeing friends. But, not in Flagstaff. I miss my Flagstaff peeps. I hope they don't move while I'm away. Hey, why doesn't this key work ... who are YOU?

I haven't been able to keep up with my favorite blogs. It's not you, it's me. I'm writing and checking email from libraries and cafés, but once I can sit and surf, I'll be enjoying you all again.
