You full-timers: who insures your rig and possessions? Did you get a replacement-value policy? Tell me stuff. (please) I've heard a few names over and over, and would love to get your input.
You non-full-timers: Tell me other stuff. You choose.
I'm currently going through Farmers to cover my truck and rig, but they won't cover me if I live in it full time. Most insurance companies won't. I will be changing ins co's when I transition because of the lack of a decent replacement policy.
I called GoodSam for a quote a few months ago and said they would cover me 100% (even with me living in the trailer). The cost is a little higher than what I'm paying now, but it's worth it given the replacement policy they have. I hope this helps some.
We have our full timers insurance (coach and jeep) through Miller Ins in Oregon. They are a broker handling several companies that insure full timers and can write for whatever state you are domiciling in. So far, so good, but haven't had any claims so can't vouch for the service on that. We do have full replacement coverage.
BTW, National Interstate is one of the biggie full timer insurance guys. Nothing to say you can't go to them directly. It would probably be cheaper than using a middle man. Progressive is another. Our jeep is insured through them. They were much cheaper for the toad and Natl Interstate much cheaper for the coach (in our situation) so we split our loyalties :)
I'm not full-timing, but have been researching and I got a decent quote from Geico, the other day! They're really looking to be competitive with the traditional RV insurers.
We also went through Miller and ended up with Victoria Insurance for our full-timers policy plus a million dollar umbrella policy for liability. Our bikes are covered under Progressive.

I never called Geico or Progressive before, but wanted to know if anyone confirmed that they would (in fact) cover you (fully) if you lived full time in your RV. I had to clarify it with my agent, and when I did she said they do not. I called a few other agencies who also said they didn't which I why I started price shopping with more RV friendly companies.
You can tell the Escapees and RV Dream followers by those of us who insure through Miller Insurance. We've had National Interstate, Progressive (note to Steve, yes, we were insured as fulltimers through Progressive with both our fifth wheel trailer and our Ford F450 pick up), AON, and currently have Nationwide (!!) through Victoria Insurance through Miller Insurance. Don't ask, because I can't explain that one. Anyway, Nationwide paid off on our electrical problems even though the rep at Miller Insurance told us they wouldn't (yay for me for calling anyway!). We've always had replacement value coverage because we've always bought new rigs. Far too many new rigs. Anyhoo. Miller shops around and gets good prices, better than I did myself shopping around online. Geico would have been great but they didn't insure medium duty trucks, which is what our Ford F450 is considered. Normal trucks/trailers or class Cs or Class A with tows are probably a lot easier and cheaper to insure than big a$$ trucks. Who will insure you depends on your state of residence. We were dropped by National Interstate one year when they stopped carrying coverage in the state of Ohio which is where all of our vehicles were registered at the time.
I have zero info on insurance. I have questions about your composting toilet. I installed one in a house I built in 1984. I know what experience I had with it, but wondered about your experience.
I searched the blog for posts about the toilet but didn't really find out what you think of it and how much work you do to maintain.
LG, what type did you install in your house? I think this question deserves a post of its own, now that you ask, but I'd say that we do like it. We empty the urine bucket every 1-2 days, and "service" the vault once a week. We just started using coconut coir instead of peat, and that stays dryer, so we don't completely change out every week, we just scoop. And by "we," I mean whoever installed the toilet in the first place.

Geico. Those commercials are legit. They destroyed the competition in price for the same coverage.

We have Geico. The rates are great and the customer service is outstanding. I haven't had to make a claim yet, so I cannot comment on that.
