Our first stop on Thursday was going to be the Grand Canyon of PA. Really, our first stop was the RV repair shop. One of the tire pressure sensors gave off an overheat warning, so at the bottom of the hill we turned left to Caskey's instead of right towards the giant scenic hole. He couldn't look at us that day (he couldn't even look at our tire), but he did offer us an electric hookup and a fairly level parking space. We hooked up our electric oil heater and I plastered my body against it all evening. I told you that story to tell you this one:
While we were there, AnnieK (a.k.a. Bruno) called to see how far we had gotten. When we told her our tale of Whoa! she was sympathetic. Ten minutes later, she was sympathetic and at our door with beer. Thank goodness we hadn't made it to Elmira, although Maggie assures us she would visit us despite what happened to Mark Twain there.
So, Bruno would be our last visitor before we left the county. Until Dennis (a.k.a. Dennis) found us the next day without looking for us. I told you that story, so I could tell you this one:
When we woke up yesterday morning, shivering, Annie said: #*¢% this #*¢%¡ng cold - let's get the #*¢% outta here - whaddya think? (abridged) and when my ears stopped bleeding I agreed with her. And, that's how we got to Scranton.
Right now (really RIGHT NOW) Annie is fighting soupy fog, the Poconos, and Route 81. Maybe it's not exactly RIGHT NOW because there's no Verizon signal (although we're getting AT&T on the iPad), so your update will be delayed.
Tangent Alert: The Maps app for the iPad is awesome. iExit is pretty great, too. An electronic version of The Next Exit (don't travel without this one!).
Cats: Five find this experience appalling; Carrot is nonchalant.
Our first destination is anywhere we can take off our long johns. Second is the Croatan National Forest in North Carolina. [How do you say that?]

Warm weather is highly overrated. But you will be there soon.
We miss the warm weather, we are in Ruffs Dale, Pennsylvania and for the first time this afternoon the sun was shining and I did not have layers of clothes on...why oh why did we leave Florida so soon...oh yea, we needed to work...
Hope you find some warmth soon, we are sort of stuck here for the next few weeks and will need to suck it up and enjoy the cold the northeast has to offer.
We made it to Warm, USA! We're in Maryland and sucking in air from the OUTSIDE, baby! Next rest stop the long underwear COMES OFF!
So what's the noise level like with five cats finding the experience appalling???
Be careful in that fog. Quite a few accidents lately on I-81 & nearby roads because of it.
So whatcha making for din din tonite?
Ha Jeanna! The silence is eerie. They all find hidey-holes and don't come out until the engine stops. Carrot sleeps in her bed right behind the driver's seat.
Bob, I believe it. It was white-knuckley for me, and that was before we got to construction. Annie handled it like a pro, but she was tense.
Steve, we had tuna on bagels and a salad. The cats are having a little Pepto-Bismol.
Yeah, head for warmer climes! Sounds like fun, even with your trials. So cool you brought all the kitties along. Safe travels! :)
Cedar Point CG in the Croatan NF is one of our old haunts. It's on VFW road. It's about 3 miles from the Atlantic and only $17 a night. Hard to beat it. The camphost couple, Julie and Steve are very friendly. Enjoy and safe travels.

Enjoying your blog, even though you are not enjoying the weather. I can't wait to see how my cat reacts to the RV.
lol the poconos are a joke, when we went there as a "family" to go "look" at them..(no fun oudoor hings for OUR family, we go LOOK a things for fun!) we had turned around before i knew we had gotten here...weak
thats hilarious that they came to your rescue with beer:)
I can just hear Roxi-Joe saying, "This town is played out". I can relate. Really. Thanks for reading my scribble. We have a lot in common.

So, I hope you've found warmer climes by now. Haven't forgotten you yet...and don't intend to, actually. Stay safe and keep on blogging! Hugs...
Not a good experience for you. Thank God for friends, and really thank God for friends with beer....
