Roxanne, what's your take on faster-than-light neutrinos? Could it be true?
I don't like to discount anything before I have a body of facts to draw from, but this is one I don't mind weighing in on prematurely. Neutrinos can be fast - no doubt about it. But, faster than light? C'mon. You could try to chase the sun through the sky, but I don't care if you're Usain Bolt, the sun will get to the other side of the earth before you're in the next county. Still, we are talking about neutrinos. They're more aerodynamic than peaches - not fuzzy - but they remain a heavy, delicious, mostly-earthbound fruit. You pitch one of those suckers and you'll get 50, maybe 55 mph on a good day. So, no. Neutrinos are not faster than light.
Roxanne, most people wouldn't suspect that you own a lot of [moderately-priced, un-larceny-worthy] jewelry. How do you keep it organized in a motorhome?
I've been intending to show you how, so it's convenient that you asked. In the sticks-and-bricks I had a really nifty jewelry armoire, but it wouldn't work in the Duck. This was Annie's idea:
These are thread spool holders, found at JoAnn Fabrics. |
I worry about you two. Being unemployed and in Florida weather must discourage you more than you admit, right?
Annie felt she could better field this question:

I always ask, employed by whom? Almost without fail it means being employed to do the work so someone else can reap the benefits. You are very gainfully employed, creating and sustaining a life you love. That's real employment. The reward is you're not employed by someone else. You decide how you're going to spend every minute of every day. It looks by the pics that's a real struggle for you. :)
Yes, reframe the assumption! I like it.
These are very important existential questions for sure and I do so appreicate your dealing with them here so we all can benefit.
You're welcome, Sherry. It's just a way I give back.
Thanks for the heads-up on the neutrino debate. I'll be better prepared next time the subject arises.
I bet Annie laughs A LOT !!!!!!!!!!
Nice system for the jewelry! I have a hanging bag with a gazillion pockets front & back that I keep mine in. And I'm not even in a motor home yet. Just like to pretend I am.
Is there anything more beautiful than a laughing face? No way. We're pretty flipping gorgeous around here as well. :)
Glad I could help, Kim. She does laugh a lot, now that you mention it, and sometimes she's laughing with me, I bet.
Oh, a bag would be useful for the non-dangly things - I may have to explore that.
And, keep on rocking those laughing faces!
Sadly, I am not up on my current events. I mean you guys taught me about planking and owling. . . I had never heard of such. I wish I wore jewelry, I think I'd like the look of it. I just find that I always take it off before noon on any day that I put it on before noon!
Totally off topic, I was pointed to a link that you might find interesting and that Annie may even comprehend. I think I got about 8% of what the author was saying about solar.
At any rate, he has been boondocking for 8 years or so without a generator and uses electricity every day. If you haven't read it you might enjoy http://handybobsolar.wordpress.com/ He's kind of a militant radical solarist! LG61820
YES!! We love that website! Well, Annie loves it, and she tells me I do, too. She has pored over the site. If it's not in our Boondocking Resources, it should be. Thanks!
I don't wear jewelry every day, but when I do, I feel fancy.
Jewellery is pretty, I like to wear it sometimes. great idea for working it into the motorhome.
Love Bob solar, he's awesome. He has some great stuff on his site.
Well worth the look!
My son is totally into planking and owling now, he wants to try coning and shoeing now.
Kids...
Owling? Coning? Shoeing? Perhaps I don't wanna know....I learned about planking about two weeks ago. WTF????
I was trying to figure out how I wanted to place jewerly on the back of my bathroom medicine cabinet. I think I've gotten a good idea now - thanks! But no, my toitey is not up to being planked....nor..uh, why??
Screw the junk jewelry (of course I'm referring to the old fashioned earrings with posts)!! I want to steal that jewelry hanging devicemajiggy!! Either that, or go buy one at JoAnne's.
Ok, so tell the truth. Did Annie just fart?
I'm with you on the neutrino speed debate. Until it is all repeated and verified, it ain't science. Historically, it has been a bad bet to go against Einstein.
I have the same reaction as Annie about not being gainfully employed anymore.
I had to Google coning and shoeing, and I'm taking a stand against both of them. That's right. AGAINST THEM. I mean coning? THERE'S A CONE FOR A REASON! My son used to do this, and then he turned four. This shoeing thing: I'm supposed to throw my shoe at someone? Do I have this right? Seriously, I own three pairs of shoes and I suffered to choose them. At this stage of my life, I need both members of the pair.
[I feel like Emily Litella right now.]
Cyn, I need to know why you would plank your toity. I really need to know. I planked at the beach, but that was easy to rinse off. Nellie says you should owl on the toilet, but that's just personal preference.
Nellie, what else could provoke such hilarity? Really, she had just made a joke and cracked herself up.
I agree, Tesaje. Just because a neutrino races around his backyard and claims to have broken the light speed record is no cause to publish it in the NYT. He needs impartial referees with accurate Timex stopwatches to authenticate.
Employed? I'm soon to be unemployed for about 6 months and SO looking forward to it. Will probably be busier during that semi-retirement time anywho.
I like your jewelry storage idea. I hang mine by S-hooks off the curtain rod in my bedroom but have to take them down to travel.
Gaelyn, your summer job sounds like heaven to me, but then, I'm not doing it. I'm looking forward to reading about what you're doing when you're not slaving away at the most amazing place I've ever seen.
I always leave your blog with a smile on my face.
Yay, Jenny! Mission accomplished.
