I told Mom about FindAGrave.com, and she liked the idea. It's a volunteer network of members taking pictures of stones for faraway families and genealogists. In turn, someone will gladly take pictures for you. Headstones are a key "proof" for vital statistics in family trees, but it used to be a matter of traveling back to the source. Originally, people made paper tracings of the engraving.
We were near Jasper because Mom was having a kitten spayed.

We traveled to North Florida PAWS in Jennings for the surgery. It's an out-patient thing; we dropped her off at 7:30 AM and picked her up at 5. She got her hysterectomy, rabies shot, ear mite treatment and two doses of standard vaccines (FVRCP) - they send the second dose home in a syringe - for $65. It's a non-profit organization with a 501(c)(3) status, so donations are tax-deductible, should you be so inclined. Annie was so impressed that she booked her own hysterectomy there for next week.
After the drop-off, we did some graving.
With three sets of eyes, we were successful. I don't count Bossy's eyes, because they never left us.

That last photo would have the caption, "Even a beautiful flower blossoms when it is not part of a crowd." Or something equally cheezy.
"Bloom out of the box!"
Hope everything comes out all right for Annie. :)
Will there be time to send flowers to Annie at the clinic? Is there a speed delivery service in FLA???????
Stonespotting sounds a lot like geocaching. By the way, the irrelevant pictures are gorgeous!
Cheesy enough! And, nice, Judy. I was thinking "Bloom where a digging rodent plants you" but that didn't sound very motivational.
We'll pick Annie up the same day. No time for flowers at the clinic, Marianne. We'll have to keep her from jumping up or licking her incision. And, you're right! I hadn't thought of that, but it's true. Sometimes you find them, sometimes you don't.
Bloom where you're planted, but watch out for the lawnmower.
dare to be different... RV instead of staying in suburbia...
Sue and Duke - yeah, yeah!
And, for boondockers: Break out of the campground - stay in the sticks.
Isn't great to have the time to do it!
Merikay: YES! No matter what you're talking about, YES!
okay I just posted a long (well long to me) comment and then I signed in and poof - it disappeared. Please tell me you got it.
You will have to put Annie's head in one of those cones. She might not like that part.
I emailed you my submission. I'm sleepy from lunch, perpetually random, and was watching preview clips for season 2 of Walking Dead. Enjoy. I think.
Oh no, Pepper! BLOGGER!!! Can you sum up?
The Cone of Shame. She already has one, so we'll avoid that added expense.
Steve, I did enjoy it, and I did not understand it. Like watching Lost.
Pearl is beautiful. So are the flowers. So is Annie. Bossie and the grave stones welll.........

Aw, Sherry. :o)
Just got in from mowing lawn and got a snort out of your exchange with Merikay. Actually, a few snorts, sorta staccato-ish. Ditto with Michael Ultra.
It's a good thing you didn't run from the cow. I did that once, from several cows, and they get the herd instinct, think they're running for the barn or some such thing, and they run after you. They're not chasing so much as following. But, it is a bit unnerving.
The mushroom looks to be a puffball and they are delicious. Really.
I have a cow and mushroom story. I 'spose I'll blog about that fool thing now. See what you've gone and done?
Oh, that's a mushroom?! I thought it was some sort of UFO.
That flower looks like it's boondocking instead of staying with the crowds at the campground!
Out on a limb perhaps?
LOL
Oh good, Teresa - I'll look for the story, although it sounds like dinner from my omnivorous years. I'm afraid of cows, and with all the beef I put away in those days, I have good reason.
Sue, it is a UFO - Unidentified Fungal Object.
Wild Blue, my thoughts exactly!!
I've always loved going to graveyards. My grandparents would take us there as kids to clean the graves of family members my sisters and I were too young to know. It's humbling.
LOVE Breaking bad! That Mr. White looks nasty in his tighty-whiteys!! :)
Nellie, were the graves all above-ground, like mausoleums, where you grew up? I love going to graveyards alone, and listening.
Oh, and yes! I hope he continues with the HazMat suit instead of subjecting us to the BVDs every episode.
I want to hear how impressed Annie is after they kick her out a few hours after surgery. Ouch.
We love visiting cemeteries... AS a matter of fact I did a post on it just yesterday. Come check it out! Loved the photos
Have fun
Donna
Nice puff ball.
Forget the cone, I hear buckets work well.
MooMooMah is watching you.
How old was the oldest headstone? They look really old. btw, people are just dying to get there...(sorry, really lame, but totally irresistable)
The posey was just absoultely "out standing in it's field"!
TexCyn who blogger hates...hmmmm mlm blogger -ya gets da puppy paw
I didn't realize Blogger was human-like software that could like or dislike me. Why do you suppose I am disliked? Wonder what I could do to get in with the cool kids?
Thanks to you I have been researching the latest generation of electric composting toilets and believe i will install one in the vintage trailer I will be getting as soon as I complete renovations to the vintage house I bought at the height of the housing market!
Thank you for making me laugh today. I needed it!
Anonymously yours, LG61820
This must be mushroom week cause I posted about them, then read Teresa's blog and got goose bumps, then came here and am once again longing to be on the road again where the rambling flower grows alongside.
Jeana, I figure it will be easier to keep her off the furniture if she's still uncomfortable.
Gaelyn, I'll have to ask you to stop talking about my wife that way.
Donna, it's graveyard and mushroom week at Blogger!
Cyn: GROAN. I think the oldest in this particular cemetery was mid-late 19th century.
LG, I'm shaking my head. Do you have this trouble everywhere? What about you, Cyn? LG, do you blog? I'll want to read more about the toilet you END up with.
Thanks for visiting, Linda - I liked your lunch post. It really is Fungi Week.
I can post on some folks blogger accounts, yet not others at all. I rarely get to be myself & actually use my account. And can't even go annony on some! One day, I might take the time to figure it out...maybeeee..in the meantime, mlm to them (the puppy paw)
