Solar flair

What a party! I hope you all enjoyed it, and stayed safe. We noticed some of you enjoying it like this:

Very classy.

I saw some of you partying like this:

Rock on, my cheap sisters.
To the silver Lexus SUV next to us: sorry we embarrassed you by laughing our tail feathers off. It's just that, well, we were watching the solar eclipse on our Kleenex.

We spent the afternoon looking for our next home.

The neighborhood, she is gone.

Photobucket
Rudiments of boondocking. Is there enough clearance? [there was]

Photobucket
Oh  yeah, it's Arizona.

Photobucket
Get a load of the size of the trunk on that thing! And, check out the tree!

Photobucket
Spelunk. The sound you make when you start sliding down the hill.

Photobucket
Number 3, put your right leg in. Now, put your right leg out. Now, put your right leg in...go ahead and shake that all about. [Elks in the Pokey]

Look at that bunch of elk!
Not bunch, herd.
Heard of what?
Herd of elk!
Sure I've heard of elk!
No, no, AN ELK HERD.
What do I care if an elk heard? I got no secrets from an elk.

Spelunk...yup, the neighborhood is going downhill fast, now that the Ducks are all moved in :))) LOL
And you're right, that's one big butt on that tree, for sure!

If yur gonna sniff it, go ahead and HUG!

What if the hokey pokey really IS what it's all about??? Better join in now while you've got a group thing going.

Which one of you is Bud and which is Lou? I'm sure the Elk herd has heard all about you guys.

I hope you are well away from the fires that are raging out there, wherever your next location takes you.

Love the tree shot. Glad you got to see the eclipse. Your blog is the closest I got to seeing it.

Sherry, there was all kind of PDA between me and that beautiful tree. I'm a sap. And, Annie calls me Oliver Hardy, because I'm big, but I'm light on my feet.

We'll keep an eye on such things, Andra. Thanks for thinking of it. I predict you will find a much more dramatic photo of the eclipse in the bloggy-sphere, but maybe not a more dramatic shot of the eclipse on Kleenex.

OH boy, Russ, you are a brave man. Did you forget I have your cell phone number??

PS - post asap complete materials & instructions for the excellent site height measuring tool.

Sherry, here is a DIY check list:
- Annie
- semi-rigid tape measure
- branch

Next time I get a chance, I'm going to push Russ in the pool for you (he can't swim)!! I hope the Elk herd his blathering and come after him haha. Great photos - see didn't get to see the eclipse either. Hope you had a great birthday.

The Solar Kleenipse.. I love it! How creative!!! Sounds like you had a fun birthday with both 2-legged and 4-legged friends!

The Good Luck Duck said...

Thanks, Donna. Push him in the shallow end for me, that's just how BIG a person I am. Thanks! I did!

The Good Luck Duck said...

Thanks, Lynne! I did.

I like your new profile pic.

You're right, your solar eclipse photos are much more elegant than mine. Sometimes less is more. :)

Love your elk rap and photos. I haven't seen elk yet.

The Good Luck Duck said...

And, let's be honest, Barbara: sometimes less is just less. Thanks - once you move north you probably will see some. We didn't go looking for them, and there they were!

To another duck,
Ducks are more than "quackers." We have feelings too. Wonderful photos. Another duck loves the country.
Thanks for visiting. It's a pleasure to meet you. Manzanita

The Good Luck Duck said...

You're so right, Manzanita. Too often we are the butts of cruel jokes at our expense ("got any nails?" Nah. "got any duck food?"). Yet, if we're plucked, do we not quack?

Thanks for coming by!

Gee and I went all hi tech with the solar glasses when I could have used a kleenex. Next time I'll know better. Some people (Russ) do like to live dangerously don't they.

Sherry said...

It's Sojourner Duck! You are the literate one!!

Sherry said...

Make that literate quacker.

I am sitting here bedridden with my newly broken ankle and my summer golfing gone in a snap! Or a snap, snap as it was two broken bones in my ankle. Finally able to read some blogs. Yours made me chuckle and feel good. Thanks!

The Good Luck Duck said...

Jim and Sandie, it's amazing what risks a man will take to be funny! And, well, now you have the solar glasses, so you can run around looking at the sun with wild abandon, any time you want. We will need a new Kleenex.

Sojourner Duck! HAHA! Ain't I a Duck? And, that's where I'm leaving this, before I start making trivializing comparisons.

Oh Cathie, I'm so sorry you had to come here to feel better! But, having landed here, I'm glad there was something for you. I'm so sorry to hear you're missing the links - not all summer, I hope?

Teri said...

I like it, Kleenipse! I looked online for ways to view the sun safely and then just decided to wait and look at everyone's pics on their blogs.

Tesaje said...

Love the 3 butt elk shot. Did the tree smell like vanilla? No eclipse here - it was dark already.

The Good Luck Duck said...

Prudent plan, Teri. There are some good shots out there.

As a matter of fact, Tesaje, it did! Annie says they all smell like butterscotch, but I disagree. This one was so old that it's pudding may have gone stale, though.

Nickie and Jim said...

Ha, I heard that one!

"Innovative," eclipse shot, I'd say. Heck, we walked to a nearby cemetery, found a live girl with solar glasses that she graciously shared, and watched a VERY impressive RING of FIRE - for FREE. No secret: I like FREE.

Gaelyn said...

What did one elk say to the other? I herd ducks.

Lovely tree to sniff, ahhh.... cookies.

Kind of glad I didn't have to watch others possible screw up their cameras, or blow their noses.

Hmmm..... where to now?

The Good Luck Duck said...

Intrepid: SCORE! LIVE and FREE? That's eclipse heaven.

HAHA Gaelyn! Elk & duck jokes - I love 'em! From here, we went into the mountains.
