Flagstaff is officially in monsoon, which upsets no one. I'm hoping you're all smack-dab in the middle of wet, too.
Flagstaff turns out for its monthly Art Walk. Not everyone walks, though.
The two people in back are not pedaling. No one seemed to resent them after the brewery stop.
Downtown Flagstaff at night is a fun place to be. I love the nightlife. I got to boogie.
The Hotel Monte Vista is said to be haunted. I can neither confirm nor AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH.
You ghosts will totally NOT appear now. |
Viola's Flower Garden is a cheery place to hang out. Look like you plan to buy something just as soon as you finish your iced tea.

Oh, come on. You had to see at least one ghost. Just a little one?
There is supposed to be a little one, but I didn't even see that one, Andra. Too much sunshine, not enough shades.
That nursery looks like a great place to hang out.
Well, you didn't FaceBook it...
Fantastic garden. Strange to find a non gardener in it.
Datil here, We have gotten a lot of rain since you were here. Going to green up soon.
I don't think my courtyard will ever look like Viola's Garden though.
Please say you bought that duck in the hammock!!!
That party/bike contraption looks like my kind of fun. And throw in a little art? I could get liquored up, get some exercise AND take in a little culture. Sweet!
Love the cheery flowers and the adorable ducky. You sure do know how to find the good spots. :)
What in the heck IS that contraption in the first picture?
Donna, it's a pedal-powered street car. I don't know who's steering.
Brenda, you know how to party. Come to Flag.
Ladybug, I left it there for someone else to enjoy. They'll think it's theirs.
Betty, I'm so glad you're getting rain, too. Your lizards were looking puckered.
LOL Sue! Yes, it's a good place.
Jan, you are the ghost commenter! Yes, it's true. I was there with my cousin, the gardener.
Flag is a fun summer town. Just too dang cold and snowy in winter. Love the moonduck. Suppose it's too big to hang in Spud?
The movie "Shining" comes to mind with that hallway! Lovely pictures :) Oh btw thank god for screens....wouldn't those BIG buggies coming into my bed!
Gosh, the photos of Flagstaff remind me a bit of downtown Hibbing, MN, where we lived for a few years. Redrum . . . redrum . . . Eeeek!
What an inviting looking garden shop..love all the colours !
I disappeared from the comments. That's a trick I have been practicing. Looks like I got it.
Viola (great name for a flower shop) could open her tea shop right among the potted plants... well, heck, maybe a bar... get potted while enjoying the pots... oops... that just let to another though. Nevermind... it is beautiful!
Sharon, we best let sleeping pot lie. And, I think that would be a great idea.
Well-done, Jan!
It's very appealing, Kelly. I like that it's locally-owned, too.
Betty, is it the streets that remind you of Hibbing? Or the creepy hallway?
Michelle, I can see that, even though I've never seen that. That hallway has seen some action. And those bugs? At the FRONT DOOR this morning.
I hear you, Gaelyn. Show up in June, leave by November is my Flagstaff motto.
We were there, too! Great place for people watching. What, no pictures of the "circus"? It was pretty bad.
The invitation still stands. We'll be here another week.
Why didn't you wave? I must have missed the circus.
I was thinking about you while planning my near-future activities. Do you want some notice? I'll blare my horn as I pull in.
If I remember there should be a big Native American Festival coming up soon, pretty much takes over downtown Flag! One of the best I have ever seen! I think you might enjoy it!
Glad to think of you as "happy happy happy" (from Duck Dynasty)
I would love to get there. But monsoon and a truck tent aren't very exciting to me. I haven't camped in yet in rain so don't know if it would leak or not. Have to try it out closer to home first. And we sure are getting lots of rain here. Loved the duck, guess not much hanging room in spud.
Amazing flowers and I want that duck!
Is there a coxswain on that contraption? Looks a bit like fun, but I'd want to check out the brakes before a downhill run! Would love to stroll through Viola's place!
I'm thinking that one bug looks to be missing a few appendages; could that be why they're not getting back together? :)
Coxswain? Watch your language! Oh, okay, yes - there did seem to be a coxswain as they caromed and careened. I see what you mean about the bug; at least he is not getting back together. He probably won't be re-membered. No one will join him.
The duck is up for grabs, Nan!
Everyone needs rain. I'm not in Spud at the moment, although I have ordered those little rain diverters for her for when I'm out in the weather. I can see testing the tent where it's not a disaster if it leaks.
I think I might like it, too, Geri. And, should I look up Duck Dynasty? Yes, I should.
oooh oooh pretty flowers! Cute duck. And Colorado Potato Beetles. Keep Spud away from those!
Oh I love Viola's and the little duck but what does that last line mean??? And please, please NO MORE RAIN! You can have it all at least for a while. Could you take the 90 degree heat along with it??
Beautiful pictures, as always. I just noticed you added my blog to your blog roll. Thank you so much! That was almost as exciting for me as the first time I saw my name in the phone book. I shouted, "WooHoo! I am somebody!"
LOVE old haunted places...does that make me weird? Love flowers too. Not sure the two have any connection, but I'm sure there's a reason for that.
Nina
Mary, Spud says EEEAAAAUUUUGGGH!
Sherry, isn't it obvious? Colorado Potato Beetle #1 is fed up with CPB#2's emotional unavailability and passive-aggressive indifference to her attempts to spice up their tater life.
LOL Pam! I remember the phone book phenomenon. I exist!
Yes, Nina, it does, but don't say it like it's a bad thing.
:-(
Hi Marianne. I'm hoping your sad face is about the other thing, and not flowers and art. Yeah, me, too. :o(
Hi Roxi!
We finally made it "home" to Glacier National Park, got settled, got internet (in a remote place with no service)...so needless to say I have a lot of catching up to do (obviously) on your blog because we've been out of the loop since the end of May...so sorry to read what has happened.
You are so inspiring, traveling in Spud on your own and continuing the journey you know you were meant to take.
Glad you're getting a cooler temp reprieve, so little Spud doesn't turn into a baked potato!
Safe travels...Robin and Jim
At least make that hammock ducky your new blog Icon photo? It's just too good.
