Taos Pueblo and Arroyo Seco

I am not supposed to use these photos for educational or commercial purposes. I never get angry letters accusing me of being educational.

It costs $10 to enter the Taos Pueblo, and $6 to bring your camera. Don't take pictures of community members without their permission, and do tip them if they agree.

I suggest that you read the brochure thoroughly before you run into the church and take a lot of pictures. Don't ask questions, just take my word for it.

This area was originally a church, but after a slaughter there it was turned into a burial site. The structure at the far end is the bell tower.

This structure may be 1000 years old. The mountain is probably even older.

I met a young man who told me beautiful places around Taos I should see that most people don't know about. He described some ceremonies that everyone is welcome to attend, and told me of his role in them. There are many things that cannot be spoken to someone outside the community, and I was grateful he was willing to come so close without crossing that line.

Gratuitous bee picture. At the Taos Ski Valley.

Shameless bee porn, same place as above.

 Taos Ski Valley.

I was going to go all the way and order ice cream at Taos Cow, but lost my nerve at the last minute. Maybe next time. This time, I just enjoyed a coconut water at Sol Food.

I've been enjoying a family staying near me on the river. They're also telling me good places to see, and inviting me for coffee every morning. Yay!

I'm about to do a new thing, so I'll tell you more about that later. It involves kitties and staying put for a few weeks and seeing friends. But, not in Flagstaff. I miss my Flagstaff peeps. I hope they don't move while I'm away. Hey, why doesn't this key work ... who are YOU?

I haven't been able to keep up with my favorite blogs. It's not you, it's me. I'm writing and checking email from libraries and cafés, but once I can sit and surf, I'll be enjoying you all again.

Your posts are keeping me going through my current 'holy crap I gotta make this work now' terror -- thank you!

Sounds to me like a lot of that "spiritual" stuff is really commercial and monetary. But... what do I know? Those flower/bee photos are exceptional!

I'm glad you popped for the extra six bucks to take pictures at the Pueblo. It's $10 up at Zuni! That's why all my pics from up there are blurry and have bug splats and reflections of me and my camera on them.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait for the kitty-friend adventure! There's a Scrabble party on Sunday at 5 pm if you get here in time for that.

It's not really bee porn. It is flower porn. The bee is just the sex toy the flowers use. No, really.

Pretty up there in Taos. Glad you are enjoying it.

Those gratuitous pictures are terrific. Well they are all great actually and give a real feel for the area which I'm sure you have felt. Sorry I can't get there soon enough to meet up with you. Now this post has put it so high up on my list that it's in the clouds there with Yosemite.

~The bee is just the sex toy the flowers use.~ And it goes bzzz bzzz bzzz too! teeheehee

The flower shots are just amazing! Soooo glad you're enjoying yourself. :)

Hahaha Brenda! Where do they find batteries that small?

Sherry, it feels great here for sure. This is someplace I want to come back to.

Jo, I think lists are supposed to be large. Once there's nothing there ... what then?

Thanks, Karen! I provide porn when I can.

Dragonfly, my work here is done *dusts hands*

Have a wonderful time, Jill! It hurts me physically not to have my camera, so $6 was a small price to pay for relief.

Oooh, Chris, good job! Were there other vehicles? No one rousted you? I'd totally do that.

Chick-a-bee bee, Mary!

LOL Sue! I think somewhere between $6 and $10 might be my breakpoint, too. I'm aiming for Monday in TorC.

Sharon, that is pretty true of "spirituality" of all flavors, I think. But, some is genuine. If outsiders are not invited to join, and there's no proselytization option, that part is likely to be the real deal. Although, what you describe is how I feel in Sedona!

Kate, it's going to work. It already works. That's just hard to see through the terror. :oD

Wow! That was a HUGE and beautiful dreamcatcher over the window at The House of Water Crow! It must have taken a lot of bad dreams to make one that big! It's hot in T or C so be ready to roast! But it's a cool town to be hot in!

This brings back so many memories, while you are in north NM check out Aztec Ruins National Monument, located in Aztec NM.

Aztec Ruins National Monument is located on Ruins Road about ½ mile north of New Mexico Highway 516, in the City of Aztec, New Mexico.

Costs $5 for a pass last for 7 days. I took pictures galore, inside the visitors center and all over the park.

Had new my movie camera and did my own PBS documentary of the place. You could walk down into the Great Kiva, it was fascinating to me to see building thousand of years old.

So glad you are back enjoy your travels. I know it's be hard but you are healing and moving forward. Sending positive energy your way.

Soon it will be cooler and we can all relax and chill. Yesterday, it was 98 here with heat index in the 100's, oweeee, that's hot. I'm finished with summer.

My pleasure, Maggie.

I get that, Diana. I never pay for water. :o) It's my own line in the sand. The hot, hot, dry sand.

Thanks, Lynda. Don't miss it next time!

Thanks, Contessa. I love it, too - beautiful place.

Oh, go on Nickie. You know you want to say it.

Pam, who doesn't love bee porn?
