The Taos of Pooh - retreating to Taos, New Mexico.

We left our heroine (of her own story) portaging in bare feet over pointy rocks. Will she make it to shore? Will she get enough water? Will she ever shower??

Now that my feet have healed, I consider this a good experience. It was also one of those clarifying situations where I understood something completely unrelated to whether or not there was enough water in the lower Rio Grande this season.

Balmorhea State Park

We stayed in Big Bend National Park for six hot days, then headed north and up to thermal relief.

In the interest of opacity, I'll just say that I changed my summer plans. Today, I'm in a lovely home between Arroyo Seco and Taos, surrounded by kitties and the residual healing energy and vibrant art of Tracy Turner Sheppard.

So glad her feet have healed. Such beautiful photos, not looking at all treacherous or hot :-) Beautiful art, and kitties - a most lovely change of plans.

Love the wisdom of Pooh. Love 5ge painting. After reading the previous this definitely sounds like pure wisdom. Haven't seen you around lately.

You know I am jealous of your paddle on that river. I have not done a serious river paddle. Oh, I guess I did one in Minnesota, and water was swift and serious. I admit, it was a little frightening. Still I am jealous. (but not of the kitties, thank you)

How quickly our summer plans can change... I hope it's a good change for you. :)

Love the photos, as usual, and I'm tickled by the dainty feet on that javelina. Enjoy your summer!

I love a good allusion to the book that changed my life.

I passed through Datil the other day, heading west. I waved in no particular direction, hoping my good thoughts would get to you (unless you weren't around, in which case, too bad).

Al, I felt unanticipated well-being here in Albuquerque; that must have been it.
