Every picture tells a Storrie: Storrie Lake State Park, New Mexico

I've spent about a month, altogether, at Storrie Lake this summer. It's been a good place to hang with friends. Today... brrr! The heat is on in the rig - oh yeah, I'm living large - and the sky is gray. This weekend we'll be leaving Las Vegas, no fear or loathing.

Don't hand me no lines.

This time of year, the front gate closes at 7:30 PM. Better catch the early-bird special and git home.

Storrie Lake S.P. will close October 15.

Storrie Lake's dump station has been unavailable for at least two months, and no one seems to know when it will be repaired. There is a $5 dump available at the RV park across from Walmart. I guess it's a way of stimulating the local economy, but too bad for Storrie Lake State Park's reputation.

Because my rig is permitted at Morphy Lake State Park (max 18' rig length), we took it for a day trip to this beautiful area.

We think we'll check out Villanueva or Santa Rosa; I haven't been to either yet.

Las Vegas, New Mexico on the cheap

Today's post will reveal the secret of enjoying Las Vegas' plaza life without crashing your budget:

Go on Sunday.
[Highlight for the surprising answer.]

Las Vegas, New Mexico is a fun, quiet town. I've already expressed my appreciation here.

Historic Plaza:

I'm short on narrative lately, so I offer you several thousand words.

Bridge Street:

If you're keeping track, things are great. I'm happy, and having fun.

Las Vegas, New Mexico: blogger edition

"I've got your honk RIGHT HERE."

I didn't.

Windows wallpaper

I wouldn't.
The Ladies Who Walk Dogs invited me to join them. I haven't tried out my cast further than the bathroom, so here was my chance.

It also turned into my chance to meet Ryan (New Age Nomad). You'll see his rig in the background.

Jeannie (OnTheRoadWithRiley) scoots everywhere. Riley doesn't scoot at all.

Also camping in our group are Annie (Annie and the Furballs), Barbara (Me and My Dog...and My RV), and Nancy (Wish You Were Here!). Also Renee and Paula, neither of whom blog (waves hands around in consternation).

In Incognito Jeannie's picture above, you can see the pen she uses for Riley. Here, she has it stretched across the mouth of the park shelter. It is also free-standing when she needs it to be, like this:

I took a shower this morning.

So concludes the excitement, but there's bound to be more later. Watch as I dry my towel in the sun.

What happens in Vegas: Las Vegas, New Mexico

What happens in Vegas ends up on a blog. Maybe several blogs, two tabloids, and a police blotter.

I don't know how the other women feel about revealing their current location, so I won't. Stalkers, we are legion here, and you will stay in Vegas, if you catch my meaning.

Here are a few of us, and their women:

Here's how they all look, for realz:

Jeannie (Riley), Annie (Jake), and Barbara (Katie)

I am a New Mexican! I'm not new, and I'm not Mexican.

I'm destined for another 2.6 weeks in my new orange cast. I'm told orange is the new something. The women I'm camping with are being super-nice to me, so maybe the cast needs to stay on longer?
